The rule of thumb for moving volume is 0.3 to 0.5 m³ per square metre of living space — a 70 m² flat therefore sits between 21 and 35 m³. That range is useful as a rough orientation and too wide for a calculation. Photos narrow it, because they show what the formula cannot know: how full the cupboards are, how much is in the cellar, and whether the sofa fits through the stairwell.

Common questions about the volume calculator
How accurate is the estimate?
More accurate than the square-metre rule of thumb and less accurate than a survey. That is why you always get a range and never a single number. The price becomes binding only after a survey on site or by video — that is not a formality, it is the point at which an estimate becomes a fixed price.
Do I have to give my phone number?
No. You see the estimate before any contact details are requested, and you can simply close the page afterwards. We think that is the right order: the answer first, then the question of whether you want to go on.
What happens to my photos?
They are stored encrypted, used solely to produce the estimate, and deleted after 90 days. They are not publicly accessible. Details are in the privacy policy, which the consent box above the upload also links to.
Why do you ask about the carrying distance to the parking space?
Because it affects the working time more than almost anything else. Between 20 and 80 metres of carrying distance, at 30 cubic metres, lies a difference of several hours — and working time is the largest item in any moving calculation. That is why a no-parking zone at 300 € per address almost always pays in Munich.
How many photos should I upload?
Enough that every room appears once, plus cellar, attic, garage, balcony, stairwell and the loading situation outside. For a three-room flat that is typically eight to twelve shots. More does no harm — we accept up to 15 files.
What if the estimate does not work?
Then we show you no number, say the images are not sufficient, and offer you a phone call. An invented figure that turns out wrong on moving day would be the worse outcome.
Does the estimate spot things you do not transport?
It tries. If a piano, a safe, a billiard table or an oversized load is visible in the photos, we flag it in the result — with the explanation of why we do not transport it and what is possible instead. A piano, for instance, we do not move, but we can dispose of it through the sister brand.
Does the displayed range count as an offer?
No, expressly not. It is a non-binding estimate. An offer is a written document with scope, date, crew and a fixed price, and that comes after the survey.
