Wardrobes, beds, office furniture and kitchens are dismantled properly, transported securely and rebuilt at the new address — including connecting the washing machine and dishwasher.
Furniture dismantling and assembly costs 200 – 600 € gross, taking a kitchen apart and refitting it 400 – 1.200 €. In a Munich Altbau, dismantling is rarely optional: Gründerzeit stairwells have a narrow void, and a wardrobe that fits a room with 3.20 metre ceilings almost never comes down in one piece. What gets dismantled is therefore decided by the stairwell, not by taste — and that is what we look at during the survey.
What does furniture assembly during a move cost?
200 – 600 € gross for an ordinary household — that covers dismantling at the old address and rebuilding at the new one. The figure moves with the number of parts, not their size: a wardrobe system with eight elements is more work than one large single wardrobe. A kitchen is priced separately at 400 – 1.200 €, because connections, worktop and appliances come on top.
Which furniture has to be dismantled?
Anything that will not go through the door, the stairwell or the lift — and anything that travels more safely in pieces than whole. In practice that means wardrobes from two metres wide, high beds and bunk beds, cupboard walls, corner sofas with a rigid frame, large dining tables and practically every fitted kitchen. Chipboard shelving we dismantle only when we must: it often survives dismantling less well than the journey.
Do you dismantle and refit kitchens?
Yes, for 400 – 1.200 € gross. We take out base and wall units, worktop, sink, tap and appliances, and rebuild at the new address in the order the connections there dictate. What almost never transfers one to one is the worktop: if the new kitchen has a different layout, it has to be recut or replaced. We say that at the survey, not during the rebuild.
Do you connect the washing machine and dishwasher?
Yes. The washing machine is disconnected, secured for transport with its transit bolts — which almost nobody has kept, which is why we carry spares — and reconnected to supply and drain at the new address. The same goes for the dishwasher. Gas appliances we do not connect: only a registered installer may do that, and we do not move that line.
What if a piece of furniture breaks during dismantling?
Statutory liability under § 451e HGB applies, at 620 euro per cubic metre of loading space. Realistically, though, a different question comes first: some furniture does not survive a second dismantling, because the dowel holes in chipboard tore out during the first assembly. Where we see that, we say so beforehand — and rebuild with reinforcement, rather than explaining afterwards that it was already loose.
When is a furniture hoist needed?
When an item can neither be dismantled nor moved through the stairwell. In a Munich Altbau that mainly means wide wardrobes in buildings with a narrow stairwell void, and sofas with a rigid frame. We do not provide the hoist ourselves — it is booked from an external supplier and needs standing space on the street, so a no-parking zone at 300 € as well. Both have to be planned together, roughly three weeks ahead.
Assembly without a move
We also assemble when we are not moving you — a new wardrobe, a delivered kitchen, an office being rearranged. That is priced by effort and starts with a call-out plus the estimated working time. For a single wardrobe it rarely pays; for a kitchen or a complete room fit-out it almost always does.

Hardly anyone still has the original transit bolts for their washing machine. We carry spares.
A fittings bag per item
Screws and fittings are bagged and labelled per piece of furniture. The rebuild finds what it needs.
No gas connections
Only a registered installer may connect gas appliances. We place the appliance; a specialist makes the connection.
What does a move in Munich cost?
A move in Munich typically costs between 450 – 850 € for one room and 2.400 – 4.500 € for a house of 140 to 200 square metres. The price comes from the volume in cubic metres, the crew and time needed, the distance, the floor and the carrying distance. Other companies give you these numbers on the phone. We put them here.
Rule of thumb for volume: roughly 0.3 to 0.5 m³ of goods per square metre of living space. A 70 m² flat comes to about 21 to 35 m³. Sparsely furnished tends to the lower figure; a full cellar and attic to the upper one.

Common questions about furniture assembly
What does dismantling and refitting a kitchen cost?
400 – 1.200 € gross, depending on size and fit-out. Units, worktop, sink, tap and appliances are included. Recutting the worktop when the new run has different dimensions is not — that is joinery and is commissioned separately.
Can you rebuild an IKEA kitchen?
Usually yes; system kitchens are designed for it. The limits are the worktop, and carcasses whose connectors were already overtightened during the first build. We look at that during the survey and say beforehand what is worth keeping and what is better replaced.
Do I have to empty cupboards beforehand?
Yes, all furniture must be empty before it is dismantled or moved. The exception is wardrobes if you have rented wardrobe cartons: then the clothes stay on their hangers and go straight into the carton. Full drawers still come out — they break the runners.
Will you assemble newly delivered furniture?
Yes, without a move as well. That is particularly useful for kitchens and larger fit-outs, where delivery only goes as far as the kerb. It is priced by effort; for a single item the call-out rarely pays.
What about ceiling lights and curtain rails?
We take lights down and put them up again, as long as it is an ordinary connection to an existing ceiling rose. We do not lay new wiring. Curtain rails and blinds we dismantle; whether they fit at the new address depends on the window dimensions and is rarely clear in advance.
How long does assembly at the new address take?
For a three-room flat usually two to four hours after unloading, for a kitchen alone three to six. It runs in parallel with unpacking, so it rarely makes the day longer — unless the kitchen is the bottleneck, and it regularly is.
What if parts or screws are missing?
Fittings are bagged and labelled per piece of furniture, so it seldom happens. If something is missing, we carry common standard fittings. Manufacturer-specific parts have to be ordered — then we build as far as the item is usable and come back to finish.
Do you assemble office furniture and shelving systems?
Yes, on company moves that is the standard case. Workstations are dismantled with numbered parts and rebuilt in the same configuration at the new site, so nobody is hunting for their pedestal on Monday morning.
